Watch: AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd's new video

Publish date: 2024-08-02

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is making a video in Tauranga to release his solo album, with auditions for models taking place today.

Head Job, Rudd's 11-track solo album with Kiwi musicians Allan Badger of Rotorua and Geoffrey Martin of Auckland is being re-released by London-based agents Simon Britton and Alan "Big Al" Bellman, of record company Wave 365 Media, who Rudd signed a deal with in August.

Britton arrived in Tauranga last week together with UK rock singer and producer Daryl Demarco.

The pair will spend the next few weeks with Rudd, who has already dined with them in his waterfront restaurant Phil's Place, taken them for a spin in the Ferrari and flown them for an aerial tour of the Bay in his own helicopter.

Rudd's Rotorua-based girlfriend, fashion and wedding photographer Michelle Cutelli, is accompanying them and is playing a key role in the record promotion and video.

Cutelli was this morning auditioning models for the shoot, and was keen to include Rotorua-based models Hine Uea and Promise Royal, whom Cutelli has shot before in fashion shows for designer Kharl WiRepa.

In his various roles as producer and A and R director, Britton has worked with artists including Julian Lennon, David Gray, Jimmy Cliff, Sting, Talib Kweli and Run DMC.

Rudd has previously told the Bay of Plenty Times that he would not rule out a return to AC/DC but said for now he was focusing on his own music with "Badge and Spence".
